PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE:

Fall has arrived and with it comes an update from Pat Bortle on Otts.  His radiation treatments are done.  He’ll have an MRI on the 20th  to recheck the tumor.  That result will determine the next path of action.  I understand Otts is now sporting a “do” just like Mr. Clean and Pat already has a “pet” name for him.  Otts was at the inlet in Ocean City for a few hours at Corvette weekend and he was disappointed at not seeing some of the Beachcombers.  I too am sorry we missed him.

Corvette weekend was really good but I was disappointed there were not more vendors.  A tasty Seacrets lunch was enhanced by members Jim Willis and two friends, Patty & Kerry Reid, Kathy & Jim Geary along with two friends, Lana & Larry Wesley,  Rick Berry, and me and Dianne.  A couple from the Wilmington club also joined us.  After lunch many of us met at the Brass Balls Saloon to watch the parade.  We were joined by Debbie & Lenny Kozarski.  The parade is always such an amazing sight.  On the beach near the saloon was a beautiful wedding.  I don’t think they were too happy as the crowds cried out for engine after engine to be revved.

Any day I expect to receive the application for the Millsboro Holiday Parade.  It is on Saturday, December 3rd at 10:00 a.m.  They really want the club to participate because the Shriners’ Mini Corvette group will be a part of the parade and the Executive Director said that would be a great lead in for our Club.  I will have more information at the November 3rd meeting.  Think about it in the meantime and be ready to make a commitment to attend.

Thank you to our members who signed up to participate in the local Homecoming Parades.  Now all we have to do is wait for some requests.

We rescheduled the Mystery Cruise for Sunday, November 6th.  Take a look at the notice at the end of this newsletter for all the details.  We’re still meeting at the Midway Theaters in Rehoboth then on to the Millers’ home but the times have changed slightly.

Each year the Club participates in Grotto Pizza’s Holiday Trim-A-Tree to benefit a charity of their choice.  This year’s event is on Monday, November 21st from 8-10 p.m.  We meet at the Long Neck Road Grotto Pizza and decorate our tree while we enjoy their pizza.  It’s a good way to kick off the Holiday Season.  The trees remain on display throughout the season and are identified with the Club name and the charity we’ve chosen which is the Make-A-Wish Foundation.  Patrons then deposit money into our designated box and all proceeds go to our charity.

Please give a big welcome to new members Jim & Debbie Willis, Kerry & Patty Reid, Keith Brittingham, and Bob & Elizabeth Davis.

See you at our November 3rd meeting at Pizza Palace.

Thanks everyone

Bill
